HOSPICE SIMCOE BRINGS COMMUNITY SUPPORTS TO INNISFIL

Innisfil residents can now access some Hospice Simcoe services at the Rizzardo Health & Wellness Centre

Hospice Simcoe is expanding its community support programs into Innisfil thanks to a grant from Innisfil Community Foundation (ICF). These vital services are designed to support those impacted by a life limiting illness, grief and bereavement.

This $28,800 grant from ICF means Innisfil residents will no longer have to travel to Barrie to receive critical support such as Hospice Simcoe’s Coffee Talk Group, Smart Grief Workshops, Caregiver Group, and Living Well Program. Now, residents can access these services at the Rizzardo Health & Wellness Centre.

“Hospice Simcoe is excited to expand programming to the Innisfil community. Many clients have commuted from Innisfil to North Barrie to attend programs. This expansion allows us to provide essential programs closer to home, therefore better supporting the Innisfil and surrounding areas.” –Teneal Campbell MSW RSW, Community Programs Manager

Hospice Simcoe’s Community and Bereavement programs focus on support and education. Available programs include Coffee Talk, Smart Grief Workshops, Living Well program and Caregiver support program.

These programs simultaneously target isolated community members, support community connectedness, addresses the collective increase in grief and trauma noted by community members, and increase efforts to support sustainable living.

“Innisfil Community Foundation is thrilled to bring Hospice Simcoe’s important services to Innisfil residents, right here in our own community,” says Sandra Rizzardo, Chair, Innisfil Community Foundation Board of Directors. “We are continuously looking for ways to support those in need, and bringing grief and bereavement services close to home is another way we are achieving that goal.”
