Innisfil Community Foundation: Community Round Up

Community Round Up – Dec. 18, 2020

There are so many good things happening in and around Innisfil. We want to keep you connected, which is why we put together this community round-up sharing the latest from Innisfil Community Foundation (ICF), updates from our grantees, and news from across our community.

The latest from ICF

  • Just in time for the holidays, we’re pleased to announce that $50,000 in Emergency Community Support Fund grants has been awarded to seven local charities serving Innisfil residents. The recipients are: Catholic Family Services of Simcoe County, Christmas for Kids (all year round), Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka, Gilda’s Club of Simcoe Muskoka, Imani’s Place, Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation and YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka. We know these charities are working hard to support our community during the pandemic and we are humbled to be able to support them in this way. Read our full press release for more details!

  • This is our last Community Round Up for 2020, but we’ll be back in January. If you have a good news story or fundraiser that you want us to include, please reach out to info@innisfilcommunityfoundation.ca

Grantee Updates

  • We know that the holiday season can be overwhelming for those coping with mental health issues. In a global pandemic, those feelings of anxiety, depression and loneliness will only be amplified. CMHA Simcoe County offers support and information to people affected by mental health issues – so no one needs to feel alone in their struggle. Find out more about CMHA’s 24/7 crisis support and resources.

Community News

  • Although the Innisfil Food Bank can’t hold it’s typical holiday food drives due to COVID-19, the community has rallied with support. Just this week, the Food Bank announced donations from: The Town of Innisfil, Innisfil Professional Fire Fighters Association, Pace Credit Union, Innisfil Beach Cruisers, St. James United Church, The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 547, Belle Ewart-Lefroy, and Eagle Eye Contracting. This is in addition to the many local businesses and organizations that have stepped up to help the Food Bank in the past few weeks. Thank you Innisfil for coming together to help those in need through this challenging holiday season!
